Eufaula, AL – Happy Friday! Today we are sharing another great old mansion across the state line in Eufaula, AL. The Drewry-Mitchell-Moorer House was built in 1867 for Dr. John Drewry. Drewry, originally from Georgia, built this mansion just after the Civil War.
As soon as I walked by the house, I was just taken with the details – this Italianate home features 12 ft windows!
Dr. Drewry was a noted physician, achieving a reputation for treating typhoid fever, a lingering problem in the 19th century. Like many doctors, he also owned an apothecary.
The home stayed in the family for 3 generations, until the 1970s. I found a photo from the NRHP, taken in the early 1970s. Note the closed shutters on the front.
There are so many beautiful homes around Eufaula, yet this one stands out with the details!
Thanks for taking a look at this amazing 1867 home – really appreciate you reading the blog!
